What a fun evening. I’ll be photographing Ashlee and Chris’s wedding in May next year. Recently we met down in Wenatchee for a causal engagement session. We roamed around the downtown area and into the Riverfront park for one cool scene after another. Ashlee and Chris were great and the result of our little walk were some very natural portraits of a couple, simply being in Love.

A little story of me messing up though. I’m not great with names, but I know that’s not an acceptable excuse, so I’ve been forcing myself to improve. Well not today. We had been working for about twenty minutes, when I realized I had been calling Ashlee, Jessica. Oh ya, not even close. Jessica was a bride I had met with earlier that day. Newbee careless mistake. Ashlee took it well though and since then I’ve used her real name. She will defiantly be known as Ashlee from now on.

Engagement sessions are something I include for no extra charge with my weddings. Their great way to get better acquainted with my couples, get some great photographs and get them relaxed in front of the lens. By the time the wedding rolls around, I want them to be able to ignore the fact that the camera is nearby and just enjoy their day. After the session my wife and I went out to a photographers meet up in Leavenworth, ending a great evening with good food and colleagues. Here’s some favorites from A&C’s collection. Last night we went down to Wenatchee and headed to the river with Jayme and Brandon (I posted a sneak peak on their wedding last week). We took this wedding dress and cut it off at the knees, giving it a cropped jaggy look. This was for two reasons. First, it was looked really good. Second, a full dress gets really heavy when wet and Jayme needed to be able to move in the water. Justin took the helm and I hung off the back with the gear getting the action.

Afterwords we found a place on the shore and get some sexy romantic images before walking back to the launch. Both Jayme and Brandon were troopers. While it all looks cozy, the river water is cold right now and the wind was blowing a bit. They were great and as a result will have a bunch of amazing photos to add to their wedding collection. Last week I had the pleasure of photographing an awesome wedding for Jayme & Brandon. It was at the Highlander Golf Club in East Wenatchee and was a beautiful day. I work pretty often in the Wenatchee area and there’s always lots of potential. Wait till you see the views we had from the Highlander. Stunning. We even made it out on the Columbia River for some boating and Wakesurfing. I have some neat goodies in store for this wedding so stay tuned. Today I received a copy if Rick Sammon’s new book, Digital Wedding Photography Secrets. I was honored to be invited by Rick to contribute a page of tips to this great book. Here’s a picture of my page which features my well known Look To The Wind bridal portrait taken on the Washington coast. My article deals with using HDR to make amazing wedding portraits. I’m very excited about my 2009 weddings. My summer calender is filling up I’m shooting some really great weddings and locations all over Washington. Stay tune to the blog because I post images from every wedding.

I’ll be hitting some cool locations, like Woodland Park Zoo, Leavenworth, Cave B Inn, Spokane, Port Orchard and more, for what’s shaping up to be some really Amazing weddings.

I’ll also be using the new 5D MK II which is an incredible camera. I try not to put too much stock in what I shoot with, because in the end it’s not the gear but the experience behind it. Still it’s hard not be be excited. The images this camera makes are AMAZING!
